Swift was tweeted about more than 3,500 times a minute, and West was tweeted about more than 3,000 times a minute, as we saw on the MTV Twitter Tracker.
The support was palpable for Swift on Twitter. Hellojennn tweeted: "Dear Taylor Swift, You're amazing and so is your music. I love you. <3," and therealcindy added, "Dear everyone on twitter that is tweeting Dear taylor swift . let her sing what she wants. she is an artist you guys are not. thank you."
There were also some tweets suggesting other actions Swift could have taken to "get back" at West for his interruption last year. "I hope Taylor Swift interrupts Kanye's performance. That would be sooo epic," TcBall00 suggested, while LIFESmystage went the opposite direction and tweeted, "I wish Kanye would interrupt this damn performance!!! It is BORING BORING BORING!!!" PeterGriffinn got downright mean, saying, "Dear Taylor Swift, next time you call someone out, AT LEAST make it funny. Kanye should have walked on stage and slammed her guitar."
Fans of West were quick to point out that Kanye had yet to perform and there still could be more drama to unfold. And then there were those who just wanted to make light of the whole situation, like Lord_Voldemort7 who joked, "Taylor Swift walked across the VMA stage barefoot. Poor decision making. Bieber Fever is the tamest of the diseases she's about to get."
