#1 "How To Train Your Dragon" ($15 million)
#2 "The Back-Up Plan" ($12.3 million)
#3 "Date Night" ($10.6 million)
#4 "The Losers" ($9.6 million)
#5 "Kick-Ass" ($9.5 million)

It's not every weekend that a well-known actress returns to the big screen after a four-year absence, nor is it every weekend that two action-heavy comic book adaptations are playing in theaters nationwide. Despite these rare opportunities, moviegoers decided to stick with a tried-and-true favorite and made "How to Train Your Dragon" first place at the box office once more in its fifth week in theaters.

The DreamWorks Animation movie earned $15 million this weekend, bringing the family-friendly film's domestic total up to $178 million. Although not a particularly lucrative victory, first place is a nice consolation prize as "Dragon" very narrowly lost to director Matthew Vaughn's "Kick-Ass" last weekend.

Coming in second place was "The Back-Up Plan," CBS Films' new romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin. The movie marks Lopez's first theatrical work since "El Cantante" in 2006, which made a mere $7.6 million at the domestic box office. "The Back-Up Plan" is off to a considerably better start with its $12.3 million opening, but not a strong enough showing given the film's $35 million budget.

Director Sylvain White's "The Losers" fared even worse, falling to fourth place behind the three-week-old "Date Night." Even with its comic book fanbase and an established cast including "Avatar" actress Zoe Saldana and future "Captain America" star Chris Evans, "The Losers" embraced its title by raking in a scant $9.6 million.

Meanwhile, last weekend's victorious "Kick-Ass" saddled next to its comic book peer with a $9.5 million fifth-place performance.
