Decked out in a futuristic, spiked black outfit and matching shoes, B — already a multiple Grammy winner by the time she took the stage — delved into Morissette's power jam midway through her set, as she has during recent live performances.
She pranced, spun and did the Dutty Wine while the crowd cheered in approval.
"And I'm here to remind you/ Of the mess you left when you went away/ It's not fair to deny me/ Of the cross I bear that you gave to me/ You, you, you oughta know," she sang as military-esque dancers flanked her.
The former Destiny's Child frontwoman, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are among the nights' big nominees, and each has already won some hardware.
B's early Grammy wins were handed out pre-broadcast, so the "Halo" superstar seemed to take her time onstage to thank everyone with a raucous set. She smiled and flipped her hair with the kind of bravado expected from Jay-Z, her husband, who was seated in the front row during the performance.
After Gaga's performance, which included a cameo from Elton John, the bar was set high for the rest of the evening.
"If I were a boy/ I would turn off my phone/ Tell everyone it's broken/ So they'd think that I was sleeping alone," B sang and surprised everyone with her dancehall-inspired moves.
