Leonardo DiCaprio is working with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Fund to urging Americans to get Congress to pass the Clean Energy, Jobs and American Power Act currently pending in the Senate.
DiCaprio, a trustee of the NRDC, is joined by a number of Hollywood A-listers including Chace Crawford, Jason Bateman, Felicity Huffman, Justin Long, Edward Norton, Emmy Rossum and Forest Whitaker (plus famous Princeton University Professor Cornel West) in a video posted online Friday (January 29) on the This Is Our Moment campaign site. In it, the celebrities tell viewers to e-mail their senators and ask them to pass the bill that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create green-energy jobs and create a cap-and-trade program.
"This is our moment, our moment to fight for a cleaner and more secure future," DiCaprio said in a statement about the campaign. "The time is now for people across the country to stand up and have their voices heard. We all must call on the Senate to act on this historic opportunity."
Those who want to get involved in the campaign can upload videos or e-mail senators directly about the bill. ThisIsOurMoment.org encourages uses to spread the word on social networking platforms, like Facebook and Twitter, where supporters can also post their videos.
"We'll be watching you, senators," DiCaprio warns in the video. And Bateman adds, "After all, we put you in the office; we'll turn this car right around; we'll take you out of the office, go right to the principal's office."
