That was until Friday, when she tied with "Julie & Julia" star Meryl Streep for Best Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards, and to celebrate, she gave her a big kiss right onstage.
"All good kisses happen organically. How can you force that?" she told MTV News on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, where she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for "The Blind Side" and was also nominated for "The Proposal." "You can't force that kind of passion."
All joking aside, Bullock is still trying to take it all in, and she admitted that even if she doesn't take home any more awards this season, she's just floored to even be considered. "No one expects this. We couldn't get ['The Blind Side'] made, and I kept saying 'no' to the movie, so obviously I didn't go, 'Oh, this is my [award-winning movie],' " she said. "I'm just thankful for everything that's happened. It was a good year before it all happened, and it's just a sweeter year now. I'm just happy to be here."
So, with a slew of nominations and a win already under her belt, does Bullock think she'll be in the running for an Oscar? She's more excited about a different category. "I'm excited about the 10 films [in the running for Best Picture] this year — not five, but 10," she said. "So that makes me really happy."
Check out everything we've got on "The Blind Side."
