Taylor Swift snagged eight nominations -- second only to Beyoncé -- when the candidates for the 52nd annual Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday night (Dec. 2) during a live music special televised by CBS from Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Significantly, she was nominated in three top categories representing all genres of music.

Her latest album, Fearless, is nominated for overall album of the year in a category that also includes Beyoncé's I Am ... Sasha Fierce, the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D., Lady Gaga's The Fame and the Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King.

"You Belong With Me," a track from Swift's album, is up for record of the year against Beyoncé's "Halo," the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," the Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" and Lady Gaga's "Poker Face."

Swift and co-writer Liz Rose's collaboration on "You Belong With Me" put them in the song of the year category alongside hits such as Lady Gaga's "Poker Face," Maxwell's "Pretty Wings," Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and the Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody."

Additionally, Fearless is nominated for best country album, and "You Belong With Me" is up for best pop female performance. Swift and Rose are also nominated for best country song for "White Horse," an album track that also earned Swift a nod in the best female vocal performance category. "Breathe," yet another track from Fearless, resulted in Swift and Colbie Caillat netting a nomination for best pop collaboration with vocals.

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards show takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 31.
