BEVERLY HILLS, California — For as long as there have been wolf-men, monsters and the Incredible Hulk, one question has always plagued the creators of said creatures: What happens to their clothes when they transform?

When "New Moon" hits theaters this weekend, one thing you'll notice is a lot of shirtless young men. When Taylor Lautner, Chaske Spencer or other members of the wolf pack transform, you can clearly see shreds of pants flying everywhere. And at some point, they need to regain human form, right?

Recently, we caught up with Lautner and his hairy buddies and posed the key question to them: Where are all the scenes of naked Quileute dudes roaming around the woods, looking for some new pants?

"We never actually show that part," Lautner grinned, perhaps remembering the "naked Volturi" controversy that raised eyebrows a few months back in regards to the PG-13 film. "We can't, actually.

"But, yeah, I guess that's what happens," he admitted, giving us a peek at what Chris Weitz wasn't allowed to show. "I transform, then I go back to human form. Then I go grab a little pair of shorts and put them on before I hop back in front of the camera."

"According to the book, we're naked," Chaske Spencer said of what happens when they become human again. "But we tie our [backup] clothes on our ankles, according to the book.

"It's PG," he added. "We've got to keep it according to the book."

The four wolf pack actors — Spencer, Kiowa Gordon, Alex Meraz and Bronson Pelletier — became very close during the "New Moon" shoot. But if there were scenes of the four of them walking nude through the woods together, they joked that fans might think the characters were a bit too close.

"People would start wondering," Spencer said. "They'd say: 'Hmm, I think I see a shower scene coming up.' "

And then, of course, there would be one more concern, especially if some of the younger "Twilight" fans were in the theater. "We'd give people heart attacks," Alex Meraz laughed, "if they saw what the wolf pack is packing."
