Jennifer Hudson may have surprised the world when she began dating from "I Love New York 2" in 2008, but the Oscar-winning singer and actress — who is showing their son, David Jr., to the world and opening up about being a mom for the first time in next week's issue of People magazine— sees the former reality show contestant and Harvard Law School grad as just simply David.
In an interview with MTV News last October, Hudson told us that she didn't judge him for his stint on the reality show. She, of course, got her start on a reality show as well. She was an "American Idol" hopeful long before she was a "Dreamgirl." "I don't think it's fair to judge someone off an experience [like the show]," she said.
But it wasn't that easy for Otunga to win her over. Hudson said she needed to be wooed before she agreed to date him. "He had to prove himself. ... Everything to me takes time," she explained. "We talked for a very long time before we got into each other. We got a good chance to know each other and we made really good friends out of it, which led us to this."
In the long run though, Otunga did have what it takes to finally win the heart of his fiancée and the mother of his son. "[He's] nice and thick! I love it!" she said. "David is very smart and a very loving person. He's a beautiful person. [He's] very intelligent, very smart, a complete gentleman, very traditional."
