On Tuesday (September 15), Taylor Swift stopped by "The View," where she addressed the now-infamous Kanye West incident at Sunday night's VMAs. Echoing what she said to MTV News after the show, the 19-year-old told Barbara Walters and company that initially she was kind of more confused by it than anything else.

"Well, I think my overall thought process was something like, 'Wow, I can't believe I won, this is awesome, don't trip and fall, I'm gonna get to thank the fans, this is so cool," she recalled, narrating how her excitement quickly dwindled as she realized what West's actual intentions were. " 'Oh, Kanye West is here. Cool haircut. What are you doing there?' And then, 'Ouch.' And then, 'I guess I'm not gonna get to thank the fans.' "

Swift described how she had to get over the shock quickly. "You know, I'm not gonna say that I wasn't rattled by it," she said. "But I had to perform live five minutes later, so I had to get myself back to the place where I could perform."

And the support she received backstage from fans and artists helped her get back to that place. "Well, there were a lot of people around that were just saying wonderful things and just having my back," she said. "I never imagined that there were so many people out there looking out for me. It was really wonderful to see people defending me, so I didn't have to."

West has yet to actually reach out to Swift, despite giving three public apologies and telling Jay Leno that he wanted to talk to her in person. But Swift did say that if he wanted to meet with her, she would. "I mean, he has not personally reached out to me or anything," she revealed. "But if he wanted to say 'hi,' [sure]."
