Disney Interactive Studios announced today that the Jonas Brothers are going to be starring in their first video game. Titled "JONAS," and based on the group's new TV show of the same name, the game will launch on the Nintendo DS and allow players to take control of all three brothers as they live out their lives, managing concerts, schoolwork, friends and family.
The game is designed to give fans "additional access to the Jonas Brothers as they portray the Lucas Brothers — their music, their fashion and their lives," Craig Relyea of Disney Interactive said in a statement.
The basic gameplay will surround the brothers' daily activities, allowing players to explore locations from the show, like the firehouse and school. There will even be an option to customize the wardrobe of the brothers, with players choosing day-to-day wear as well as more interesting stage costumes. Other characters from the sitcom, including friends Macy and Stella, will make an appearance.
As players progress through the game, they'll uncover music notes which can be used to charge up their guitars and unlock songs from the show. The game will also have online functionality, letting players chat with other JoBros fans and unlock exclusive in-game items.
This isn't the first time Disney has created a video game based on one of their television properties. There have been numerous "Hannah Montana" video games, as well as a "High School Musical" series of titles. A "Wizards of Waverly Place" game is also in the works.
"JONAS" is developed by Altron and will be released for the DS in the fall.
