Ever wish you could make out with Angelina Jolie? Share a smooch with James Franco? Press your lips against Robert Pattinson's, just to see if the voluptuous vampire would dare to take a bite?
Once again, the MTV Movie Awards will be honoring Hollywood's most pursued puckerers with the Best Kiss trophy on Sunday. And when you realize that half of these folks not only got to kiss Jolie, Franco, Pattinson and others but now they get an award for it, well, sometimes life just isn't fair.
From forbidden romances with vampires and slumdogs, to man-on-man displays of affection, to a "Wanted" woman and one last twirl on the dance floor from Zac and Vanessa, this year had many memorable smooches. Now, it's time to handicap the winner and tell the rest to kiss off.
Who's the Favorite?
Over the past few months, we've learned three important lessons: The "Slumdog Millionaire" people tend to do well when it comes to televised competition; people love, love, love the scene where Freida Pinto demands a kiss from Dev Patel in the train station; and Oscar, the Golden Globes and every other awards show known to man have already kneeled before Danny Boyle's heart-tugging instant classic. So, if you think we're betting against Freida and Dev taking home Best Kiss, you've got another thing coming. And yes, that is our final answer.
Who's the Underdog?
As much as I'd love to give the inside track to my "Twilight" homies KStew and RPattz, they have three more movies full of face-sucking to remind us why Stephenie Meyer's romantic words have swept a generation off its feet. Instead, I could imagine a scenario where "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" stars Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron walk off into the sunset sharing a trophy. Over the course of three films, they've become a Hepburn and Tracy for the text-message generation, and this is their final go-round as Gabriella and Troy. Then again, Zac and Vanessa didn't practice the kiss on their director's bed ...
» This year, Paul Rudd and Thomas Lennon are nominated for a kiss in "I Love You, Man" and James Franco and Sean Penn are also nominated for the decidedly more serious "Milk." There have been five same-sex winners in the past, if you count Owen Wilson, Carmen Electra and Amy Smart's shared smooch in 2004.
» The most famous lips in Hollywood have been nominated once again, as Angelina Jolie is in contention for her sexy kiss with James McAvoy in the action hit "Wanted." Jolie was previously nominated when she steamed up the screen with future beau Brad Pitt in 2006's "Mr.& Mrs. Smith."
Will the vampires grab more trophies than the slumdog? What was the year's ultimate onscreen WTF moment? It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Vote now, and tune in on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, when the big show airs live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
