Jessica Simpson, who was battered by media coverage about her weight earlier this year, is apparently aiming to make lemonade from lemons: The singer/actress is reportedly shopping around a new reality program that focuses on society's scrutiny of women's bodies.

According to Us Weekly, Simpson recently paid a visit to several unnamed networks to pitch a reality show titled "The Price of Beauty." The premise, according to an anonymous source, is that Simpson and a friend "set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why."

The source said that Simpson, 28, whose marriage to ex-husband Nick Lachey was famously chronicled on MTV's own "Newlyweds" reality show, will be very hands-on with this series, including trying some "shocking things that women do to make themselves beautiful. Picture 'Fear Factor.' "

A spokesperson for Simpson could not be reached for comment at press time.

An unnamed rep for the singer told the magazine, "Jessica is indeed working on a new show, but network details have not been finalized at this time."

Simpson, who attempted to relaunch her music career last year with a country album, was recently on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine, in which she discussed the difficulty of the fallout from those unflattering concert photos and the criticism of her up-and-down weight throughout her career. "It comes with what I do," she told the magazine. "And I know that every day the media's going to challenge me."
