Abdul, 46, lip-synched the Britney-like single on the May 6 episode, showing off some of her signature choreography and Auto-Tuned voice on the bouncy dance tune. The song is a remake of a leaked, but never officially released song from Kylie Minogue's 2003 Body Language album. The new Abdul track is the first single from her yet-untitled new album, which is due out later this year and is her first collection of new material since 1995's Head Over Heels.
According to Billboard, it was 20 years ago this week that former Lakers Girl Abdul scored her second #1 hit on the Hot 100 charts with one of her signature hits, "Forever Your Girl."
Abdul wasn't the only "Idol" family member to get a chart boost from appearing on the show. On the same episode, former finalist Chris Daughtry's band, Daughtry, debuted "No Surprise," the first single from their upcoming second album, Leave This Town, due July 14. The tune, co-written by Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, entered the Hot 100 at #15.
