So, Nick's main squeeze has some advice for the male pop MVPs of 2009 if they want to avoid seeing their names in the gossip pages. "Just put boys in [your] videos from now on; how 'bout that?" the "Wizards of Waverly Place" star jokingly told E!'s "Daily 10."
One thing Gomez is not joking about is her music career. Currently, the 16-year-old Disney star is hard at work on her debut album, set for release sometime this year. "It's a work in progress," she said. "Once I come out with my music, you're going to see a whole different side of me. Different hair, different clothing, different attitude."
Last summer, Gomez told MTV News that she doesn't want her music to be your typical pop solo-artist fare. "I'm going to be in a band — no Selena Gomez stuff," she said. "I'm not going to be a solo artist. I think that I don't want my name attached to it.
"I basically want to make music that is fun and that parents and kids can jump around to and have a good time to," she said. "I will be singing, and I'm learning drums and playing electric guitar."
An image overhaul may mean that even fewer people will recognize Gomez when she's out and about. "Half the time, kids don't even know who I am," she told E!. "The mom's just like, 'Take a picture, take a picture. And the kid's looking at the mom going, 'I don't want a picture of this girl!' "
