MTV's Street Team '08 is made up of 51 citizen journalists — in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C. — covering the presidential election and local and national issues all year long. (Do you have a local issue that that should be covered? Let your Street Teamer know!)

The Street Team has been filing stories and videos since the beginning of the year, and we'll be rolling out some of the best material every two weeks.

This week, we shout out Carl Brown's video about some young surfers making waves with their fight to save a historic stretch of Southern California coast, and Charlie Berens' blog weighs in on the pros and cons of two new Wisconsin bills promoting small wind farms as a source of renewable energy.

Jacqueline Ingles of Illinois gives us her take on the community around Chicago's historic Wrigley Field, which is struggling to even the score with a corporate America that is offering big bucks for the rights to rename their landmark baseball park. Could the Cubs possibly play on Tampax field?

Sara Benincasa of New York introduces us to Baratunde Thurston, a Harvard-educated comedian and huge Obama supporter. She caught Thurston's act, and had him size up his choice Democrat's competition in the presidential race.

On the heels of the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq, Megan Budnick of Connecticut talked with Nelson Martinez, an O3-11 who has served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Martinez was prepared for war, but is still negotiating life after it.

And Nathan Stienstra of Iowa talked with one of his state's soldiers, 23-year-old Specialist Nick Maranell, who served 15 months in Iraq, and doesn't see an end to the conflict anytime soon.
