Writer/director David Goyer told us exactly where "The Dark Knight" will take Batman — but he insists there's nothing we didn't already know. "The last scene of 'Batman Begins' tells you where things are going to go in the next movie," he said. "For people interested in where the next movie is going to go, watch that scene again." ...

And "Disturbia" held #1 — despite taking a 40 percent dive — at the box office over the weekend. "Fracture" comes in at #2 while "Hot Fuzz," which held court in fewer cineplexes, was the per-screen champ, earning $7,000 per theater to "Disturbia" 's $4,500. ...

Sanjaya, Sheryl Crow and Karl Rove walk into a party ... no joke, that was the White House Correspondents Association dinner. With mild-mannered Rich Little at the podium — instead of last year's pull-no-punches host Stephen Colbert — the action at Saturday night's event was on the floor, where, The Washington Post reports, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer scored an autograph from Sanjaya (after people at People tried to shoo the politician away) and Sheryl Crow and "An Inconvenient Truth" producer Laurie David got into it with Karl Rove over global warming. ...

U2 handed over two guitars and a bass to help bring music back to New Orleans with Saturday's Music Rising auction, which included 200 items and raised $2.4 million to benefit musicians impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Reuters reports that guitars belonging to Jimi Hendrix ($400,000), the Edge ($240,000), Bono ($180,000) and a sax donated by Bill Clinton ($54,000) scored some of the night's biggest bids. ...

The New York Post's "Page Six" steps out of the ring with Britney and her dad to bring us some big-budget film news, reporting that "Spider-Man 3" is shaping up to be the most expensive movie ever made, nearing $500 million between production and promotion, according to estimates cited in Radar magazine. Producer Laura Ziskin says it's the most expensive film she's made ("I refuse to say the [real] number because it makes me choke"), according to the Post, but she denies that the production budget went as high as $350 million. ...

With Sanjaya out, VoteForTheWorst.com has declared Phil Stacey its current "American Idol" mission. A drawing of a bald and glowing Stacey encouraging viewers to call in includes a message for the singer: "We love you even if you can't be exposed to direct sunlight." ...

America Ferrara is about to put back on a pair of one-size-fits-many jeans — but not entirely by choice, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The "Ugly Betty" star is expected to return in a follow-up to "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" thanks to a sequel clause in her contract — that's also how "X-Men" producers got Halle Berry back in her Storm costume after an Oscar win, THR reveals. ... In other movie news, Variety reports that Sienna Miller has replaced Lindsay Lohan in "The Best Time of Our Lives," co-starring Keira Knightley. Lohan's departure from the film was confirmed Friday. ...

NME.com reports that Scarlett Johansson will be singing backup for the Jesus and Mary Chain on Thursday in Pomona, California — citing a post from Cat Dirt Sez. NME hasn't nailed down any confirmation on the gig, but we guess the story is still as juicy as when Cat Dirt Sez reported it back on April 9. ... Iggy Pop celebrated his 60th birthday on Saturday with a Stooges concert in San Francisco — and an age-inappropriate stage dive. Reuters reports that the night included a "Happy Birthday" sing-along from bandmates and fans as Iggy-emblazoned balloons dropped from the ceiling.
