Jeff Scheel, the animated frontman for industrial-rock outfit Gravity Kills, got overexcited during a recent warmup gig in San Antonio, Texas, and landed himself in the doctor's office. The singer, who has not performed live with his band since late last year, gave himself whiplash during the April 19 show at the University Wellness & Activities club in what was supposed to be a low-key gig that attracted 6,000 fans, according to the band's label, TVT Records. Ironically, the injury, which will put Scheel out of commission for a few weeks, came less than a week before Junkie XL leader Tom Holkenborg injured his back in an onstage accident. Junkie XL and Gravity Kills are scheduled to join Pitchshifter on a U.S. tour beginning June 3. Perversion, Gravity Kills' new album, will be released on June 9.
