Mary Bono, widow of ex-Sonny and Cher singer Sonny Bono, has been elected to fill her late husband's vacant seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 36-year-old Republican, who beat Democrat Ralph Waite, a former cast member of the TV drama "The Waltons," will take the place of her two-term California Republican husband, who died in January at the age of 62 after striking a tree while skiing.
