Jimmy James Johnson pleaded guilty Wednesday to punching Dr. Dre at the 2004 Vibe Awards and was sentenced to one year in jail by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge.
Johnson, 27, was also given three years of probation for the felony assault count and was ordered to stay away from Dre for three years, according to The Associated Press.
Just moments before Dre was to receive a lifetime achievement award at the November 15 event, Johnson punched the famed hip-hop producer after asking for his autograph. The punch led to a brawl during which Johnson was stabbed and suffering a collapsed lung (see "Dr. Dre Attacked, Man Stabbed During Melee At Vibe Awards").
Young Buck, who was charged with stabbing Johnson, has pleaded not guilty to an assault count. The G-Unit member is out on bail while awaiting trial, which is scheduled to begin later this month (see "Young Buck Must Stand Trial For Vibe Awards Stabbing").
