Nelly wants his fans to know that even though his family is still mourning the loss of his sister, he's gathering his strength and continuing on.
After a three-year battle with leukemia, Nelly's sister Jackie passed away on March 24 (see "Nelly's Sister Loses Her Battle With Leukemia"). Since then, Nelly has put his Sweat Suit Tour on hold, and he announced Tuesday (March 29) through his rep that he will postpone this week's remaining two dates and resume the tour on Sunday in his hometown of St. Louis, where he'll be rejoined by tourmates Fat Joe and T.I.
Nelly's rep said the MC plans to make up the shows he missed, but no dates have been scheduled yet. In the meantime, Fat Joe and T.I. have been performing spot dates across the country.
Since Nelly's sister was diagnosed with her disease, the MC has been one of her most avid supporters. The two founded the Jes Us 4 Jackie Foundation in 2003, and since then, Nelly has taken up the cause of the organization, educating black people about bone-marrow and stem-cell transplants.
