Gushing speeches? Glamorous gowns? Snoop Dogg's massive entourage of relatives, friends and hotties? They'll all be a part of the 2005 Grammys broadcast - along with the usual flotilla of music stars.
But this year, the ceremony will be remembered for another reason. A unique, cross-genre performance of the Beatles' "Across the Universe" is scheduled to take place at the awards show, which airs on CBS Feb. 13, beginning at 8 PM ET/PT.
Grammy nominees Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Velvet Revolver, Tim McGraw and Brian Wilson will be joined by U2's Bono and Stevie Wonder in a performance of the famed track from the Beatles' Let It Be album.
Afterwards, the special performance will be made available on iTunes. All money raised from the sales will go to tsunami relief.
There are two ways for viewers to contribute. Beginning Sunday night, donations will be taken via CBS.com, which will offer an exclusive video stream of the performance, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the landmark event.
The live version of "Across the Universe" will also be also available for download from iTunes. The track costs $.99. Proceeds will go to tsunami relief efforts benefiting survivors and their families.
