It's no secret that the Queens of the Stone Age are big fans of bottom-heavy, bombastic rock and roll; long, dusty drives out to the desert; and partying it up big-time, but who knew they were such Internet nerds?
Judging by the bevy of postings on the band's Web site, www.QOTSA.com, there's been a whole lot of computin' going on down at Rancho de la Luna studios, where the Queens are putting the finishing touches on their new album, Lullabies to Paralyze.
First off, there's a release date for the album: March 22. And they've been good enough to post some samples of Lullabies, including the first single, the sleek and strutting "Little Sister."
There's also news on a tentative world tour, with a European jaunt penciled in for February and a U.S. tour to follow in March (just in time for fans to pick up the new album!) The band is also asking fans to help decide the future of QOTSA merchandise.
"The band has been thinking about puppets or action figures of themselves," reads a posting on the site. "Check out our spankin' new forum and vote."
In a more serious update, the band reports that Queens associate Chris Goss (also a producer of albums for Josh Homme's previous band, Kyuss) is recovering at home following a severe internal infection that had him hospitalized and in critical condition during the holidays.
"Chris is now recovering at home, and he wanted me to let you know how 'blown away' he was by the thousands of get-well messages, letters and prayers he received," the posting reads. "He's already writing and making musical plans for the rest of the year. Your love and prayers were truly felt."
