Don't look for officials from Jefferson County, Alabama, to be rocking Twista's "Slow Jamz" anytime soon.

Organizers of City Stages, an annual music festival held in downtown Birmingham, have removed Twista from the lineup of their Father's Day Weekend concert after the Jefferson County Commission threatened to withhold $200,000 in public funds if they kept the Chicago rapper on the bill.

In recent years, the rap night has been the biggest draw of the music festival, with artists like Outkast and Ludacris having performed as headliners. But the five-person commission, the governing body of the county, agreed at a meeting Thursday morning that they could not provide public money in support of an artist they found to be misogynistic and racially insensitive, according to a spokesperson.

"[The commission] has made us aware they do not regard the hip-hop act Twista as appropriate for this year's festival," organizers for City Stages said in a statement. "We have listened to their concerns, and Twista will not perform at City Stages, even though he was to have played a clean show."

A spokesperson for Twista had no comment.

Twista was scheduled to perform on the last day of the festival, which is being held June 18-20. Ruben Studdard, an artist with whom the commission ostensibly did not have a problem, will keep his headlining slot.
