HOUSTON — It's hard to be humble when your team's star player hasn't touched the ball, yet your squad is up by 10 points at halftime.

"What's the weakest team in the NFL? The Jets? We'll fly to New York and get them," the leader of the Snoop Dogg All-Stars said Saturday night at Houston's Barnett Sports Complex.

The Dogg was high on himself because his undefeated team was on its way to victory against a local team called the Gunslingers. But this was no ordinary game, it was Snoops' second annual Snooper Bowl charity football game (click for photos), and he was playing it on the eve on the Super Bowl. While everyone from Denzel Washington to Jay-Z was in H-Town for Super Bowl Sunday, Snoop was happy as a dog with a bone during his very own gridiron classic.

"It's just letting you know your game is stepping up," Snoop said of having his event in the Super Bowl's host city. "The NFL likes to see what we do. The players suggest we come out here and play them. We're about having fun, making contact and keeping it real physical. We're undefeated. We go state to state kicking ass and calling names. Y'all know it, ain't nothing to it but to do it."

Snoop probably won't get to suit up against the Jets, but he might get the chance to bump heads with a peer who has shined at MTV's Rock 'N Jock football games (see "Janet Jackson, P. Diddy, Kid Rock, Nelly Ready To Rock The Super Bowl").

"Nelly called me," he said as the trash talking continued. "He has a team that he's coaching. We're trying to set something up, but he don't play. It ain't gonna be fun 'cause I can't crack him."

Pretty soon Snoop will be replacing his cleats with his Chuck Taylor sneakers. The Dogg is almost done with the 213 group album, and he expects the LP to be out in the next couple of months (see "Warren G Calls 213 A 'No-Brainer,' Raps Over 'Sesame Street' Track With Snoop"). Later this year he'll start on his next solo album.

"I think it's about time for another Snoop Dogg record," he said. "Dr. Dre is working on [his album,] I'm working on Snoopafly the Movie: The N---a You Hate to Love. It's gonna be like a movie. It ain't gonna be nothing you seen this fly since 'Superfly.' ... That's how I want my record to be like, 'Superfly' the movie and the impact. When you seen Priest hit the screen for the first time, you fell in love with his hair, his clothes, his look, his attitude, his will to succeed. That's what you're gonna do when my record comes out. That's why I call it Snoopafly."

It's unclear whether P. Diddy will executive produce the entire project, but he'll produce at least two tracks, and it's probable that Snoop and Pharrell Williams will reunite again on the disc.

"It's time for me to make another elite record that stands strong just like I am," he declared. "I'm probably going to use a lot of heavyweight producers and not a lot of guest rappers. [I want] to handle my own weight on this record."

Snoop carried his own weight on the football field Saturday night in his team's 29-8 pounding of the Gunslingers. He had three catches.
