Art Garfunkel can add one more herb to the pungent foursome "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" that he and partner Paul Simon sang about in the '60s.

The 62-year-old singer, one half of folk duo Simon and Garfunkel, was busted for pot, according to a New York State Police spokesperson. Garfunkel was riding alone in a limousine when a state trooper pulled the vehicle over for speeding at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday in Hurley, New York, 55 miles southwest of Albany. The officer claimed he smelled marijuana inside the car, and while searching the vehicle, the driver and Garfunkel, found a small amount of pot in the singer's jacket pocket.

Garfunkel, a Manhattan resident, was charged with possession of marijuana and faces a $100 fine, unless he has had a conviction within the past three years, in which case a more severe penalty is possible. A court date is scheduled for Wednesday, though Garfunkel is not required to appear in person. He could respond by mail or have a lawyer appear in his place.

Simon and Garfunkel released five albums during their six-year recording career, which began with 1964's Wednesday Morning, 3 AM. "The Sounds of Silence," "Scarborough Fair," "The Boxer," "Mrs. Robinson," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" are among their biggest hits. After the two separated, Garfunkel recorded several albums as a solo artist.

The pair, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, wrapped up a U.S. tour last month. It was their first outing together in 20 years.
