Are you between the ages of 18 and 30 years old? Do you care about finding a job? Having your peers on the front lines in Iraq? Being able to afford college or student loans? Whatever your issue is, do you care enough to do something about it? Are you going to vote?
Then join the 20 Million Loud movement. With the launch of Choose or Lose 2004, you can become part of 20 Million Loud — the campaign to mobilize more than 20 million young adults to vote in the upcoming election. MTV and Rock the Vote are urging young voters and potential voters everywhere — decided and undecided — to meet up in their neighborhoods, discuss candidates and issues, and rock the 2004 presidential election.
On Tuesday, February 3 at 7 p.m., MTV and Rock the Vote will sponsor the first MTV/ Rock the Vote "Meetup" in your community at a location you get to help choose. These Meetups will happen the first Tuesday of every month until the presidential election on November 2. At Meetups, you will hear what others in your neighborhood have to say about the candidates and issues and get the chance to speak your mind. You will also have the opportunity to get your ideas on MTV, get active with Rock the Vote, gain exclusive access to MTV and Rock the Vote stuff and tell us who you think should be president.
So whether you want to learn more about the political process, figure out how to register to vote, or just want to hang out with people who care about the same things you do, register to attend a Meetup and vote for the location nearest you. You can even get a sneak preview of the agenda here.
If being a spectator isn't enough for you, then MTV and Rock the Vote want you to become a host at your local Meetup. Every Meetup needs a leader who can work with us in advance to move the agenda forward. As a host, we will give you all the information you need to help make your Meetup run smoothly. The first 100 people who agree to be hosts will receive a free voter's activist kit from Rock the Vote and all hosts will be able to participate in a conference call on January 29 to prepare for the February 3 Meetup. A special guest will join the call to talk you through the Meetup format.
Over the next 10 months, MTV will offer you many ways to get involved and make a difference as you help decide who will lead the country for the next four years. Join or host a Meetup and be the first to find out the latest election news and opportunities brought to you by MTV and Rock the Vote.
