Where can you see Farnsworth Bentley shake it like a salt shaker and Outkast's Big Boi talk about his crack-dealing grandmother? On the TV version of Sway and King Tech's "The Wake Up Show," coming to MTV next week.

"I think the state that hip-hop is in, we can bring something else to the table," King Tech said Tuesday. "We did all we could with radio. ... I feel real good about [the TV show]."

Tech and Sway — who's no stranger to TV audiences thanks to three years as a correspondent for MTV News — said their show has a different flavor than anything else on television. The duo, along with female guest host Khool-Aid and longtime accomplice DJ Revolution, mix party elements, interviews, man-on-the-street clips and performances.

"We've always put people on the spot, that's just a part of the show," Sway said of their habit of getting MCs to freestyle for them. They haven't switched up their MO with cameras rolling. During the series' run, viewers will see Ice Cube, Raekwon, Kanye West, Common and Big Boi rhyme off the cuff, as well as actors like Mekhi Phifer, Megan Good and Lisa Raye.

"We just try to get stuff out of them that you normally wouldn't catch on a radio show," Tech said. "Sway asked Farnsworth to do his little dance — that's the stuff we couldn't do on radio. You couldn't see the people's certain characteristics. That's the upside that TV brings to the table."

"Its different rules when you're dealing with TV," Sway added. "If it was our TV station, it would be a little bit more raw, a little bit more underground, but because it's the MTV audience ... we had to get certain marquee artists on the show. ... But at the same time they have to do certain things to appease straight-up hip-hop purists. I think overall it's a real good thing, it's a fantastic effort. We worked tremendously hard and it will be groundbreaking, the start of something new."

Just on the premiere episode alone, you'll see Outkast's self-confessed "soccer dad" Big Boi laugh through a story about his granny pulling pistols on the family. You'll also catch Sway ribbing Mekhi Phifer about the actor stealing his role in "8 Mile" and Megan Good disclosing why she thinks about Tony the Tiger when reminiscing about shooting the "21 Questions" video with 50 Cent.

"It's a lot of treats people are going to get," Sway promised. "With me and Tech, it's going to be done with a certain integrity and honesty and a certain level of entertainment that people can see the show and be like, 'I like what I just saw.' "

Sway and King Tech's West Coast-based radio show has been syndicated across the country since 1990. (To learn more about the history of "The Wake Up Show" check out Sway's bio.)

Throughout their trailblazing tenure, the duo have introduced the world to acts such as Eminem, helped break new records for already-established artists, and always scored some of the most exclusive interviews, including one with Notorious B.I.G. in what proved to be his last days.

"The Wake Up Show" premieres Monday at 11 p.m.
