Wyclef Jean is in a Miami hospital being treated for dehydration and exhaustion.

The singer checked himself in on Wednesday after getting food poisoning the day before, according to J Records. He was instructed to take it easy and is expected to remain under care through the weekend.

Wyclef has been working overtime to promote his upcoming album, The Preacher's Son, due November 4. Jean had just returned from a European tour when he appeared at Monday's Source Awards (see "50 Cent, Nelly, Lil' Kim Win Big At Source Awards; Ja Rule Gets Booed").

The former Fugee, who turns 31 on Friday, canceled his appearance at Tuesday's GQ Men of the Year Awards but still plans to perform a free show on October 23 in New York's Times Square.

The Preacher's Son, Wyclef's fourth solo album, features collaborations with Scarface, Patti LaBelle, Redman, Timbaland, Mobb Deep's Prodigy, Trick Daddy and U2 guitarist the Edge (see "Wyclef Calls For An End To The Hate (Unless It's Aimed At Pras)").
