Previous mixtapes: This is the duo's first time together, but separately, they have a library of releases.
The 411: Hosted by MTV's own Sway, Cutmaster and Vlad pull a bevy of tracks from their exclusive crates. Showing his blending skills, Vlad mixes the beat from the L.O.X.'s tribute to Biggie, "We'll Always Love Big Poppa," and mixes it with the vocals from 50 Cent's "Many Men." Meanwhile, Dr. Dre's latest find, 19-year-old rapper/singer Brooklyn, who performs on 50's "In Da Hood," continues her multitasking microphone fiending.
"See many bitches don't like me/ 'Cause I don't have to get on my knees just to make more Gs," she croons in her light pitch.
There's a little bit more bass in her voice when she rhymes, telling the industry to make way for her. "You better watch what you say when you talk about me/ I ain't Fox, not Kim not Eve/ I'm fully capable to burn all three."
Vlad's mixing dexterity is highlighted courtesy of Biggie's music again, with the DJ's special mix of 50's "If I Can't." Showing how lyrically futuristic the late King of New York was, Vlad uses Big's rhymes from "Juicy" as well as from a rare underground song; "A fly guy, well f--- it I'm the high guy, from Bed-Stuy/ Putting a swelling on your eye/ And your nose even, when I choke you, you stop breathing/ And when Jake come I'm leaving."
There's a lot of other fire on the street this week. Brooklyn-based DJ Rhude has hooked up with up-and-coming party promoters/ management company Dreamz R. Real Entertainment for Dreamz Reloaded. Rhude highlights the company's new acts like L.G. and Bambue, who you may remember for her work with Full Force as well as some established dynamos. Foxy Brown pops up three times with some of her new material that may be featured on her in-limbo LP, and there are other exclusive offerings from the L.O.X.'s Sheek as well as Loon.
Roc-A-Fella Records continues to be the leading label when it comes to putting out mixtapes. The youngest of the Diplomats, Juelz Santana, has his first solo mixtape, Final Destination. That CD features a few cuts off his album, such as "Ok, Ok," where he likens the beat to something you might hear on "Gilligan's Island," and "Santana's Town," where Cam'ron continuously yells "Dip Set, Dip Set," like a thugged-out drill instructor. Kanye West's "I'm Good" features many of the producer/rapper's exclusive remixes, including another version of Talib Kweli's "Get By" remix, which features new verses by Kanye and Mos Def.
