Slipknot's Paul Gray (#2) was arrested on drug possession charges on Sunday after a collision with another car in the bassist's native Des Moines, Iowa.

Woozy and hard to understand, Gray was arrested when police found small amounts of marijuana, two syringes and a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine, according to Sergeant Tony Steverson of the Des Moines Police Department.

Gray, 31, was charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, and failure to obey a traffic signal for running a red light, which resulted in his red 2001 Porsche striking another vehicle on Sunday afternoon. All charges are misdemeanors.

The Slipknot co-founder reportedly tried to exchange insurance information with the other driver but she was unable to read his writing, according to the Des Moines Register. The paper also reported that Gray attempted to write a check to cover the damages, which the accident victim's husband then turned over to police. The bassist reportedly told the other driver that he was on medication and later that the brakes on his car had gone out. No one was seriously injured in the accident.

After the search of Gray's car, police performed field sobriety tests due to his sluggish demeanor. "He was found to have impaired balance, slurred speech and dull behavior and when he failed several tests he was arrested and taken to jail," Steverson said.

Gray consented to a urine test, the results of which will not be available for several weeks. If they come back positive, those tests could increase the severity of his charges and add counts of driving while intoxicated.

The bassist was freed after posting $4,300 bond late Sunday night and is due in court on June 10.
