Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube are among the D.O.C.'s West Coast connections who appear on his long-awaited third album.
The Deuce, the N.W.A affiliate's first release in seven years (see "Ice Cube, Xzibit Join Gangsta-Rap Vet The D.O.C. On Latest Solo LP"), showcases the rehabilitated voice of the rapper, whose larynx was crushed in a near-fatal 1989 car accident.
Snoop, Cube and MC Ren are featured on the album's first single, "Tha Sh--," while Dre appears on "Gorilla Pimpin'" and "Judgement Day."
The Deuce, finally due February 25 on D.O.C.'s own Silverback Records after a yearlong delay, also includes cameos from Nate Dogg and Kurupt on "Concrete Jungle" and several appearance D.O.C. protégé MC 6Two.
Jazze Pha, Jah Born, Erotic D and Organized Noize helped the D.O.C. in producing the follow-up to 1996's Helter Skelter.
The D.O.C., one of the main lyricists on Straight Outta Compton, released his star-studded debut, No One Can Do It Better, in 1989.
