Puddle of Mudd have revealed a few details about their follow-up to last year's Come Clean.

Singer Wes Scantlin, guitarist Paul Phillips, drummer Greg Upchurch and bassist Doug Ardito are cohabitating in a rented house turned home studio in Los Angeles, writing and recording demos for their second major-label LP, according to an Interscope Records spokesperson. Recent late-night jam sessions led to the birth of two more songs, which brings the total number of tunes banked to eight, and they expect to develop five more before they hit an undisclosed studio in two or three weeks.

"Rawer" is how Phillips described Puddle of Mudd's new material in a post on the band's Web site last week. "I'm sure that there will be some stuff in the vein of [Come Clean single] 'Blurry'," he wrote, "but on the whole, everything is a lot edgier."

A release date or title has yet to be determined, but the band has once again tapped John Kurzweg, who produced Creed's three albums as well as much of Come Clean, to helm the boards.

Despite the band's dormancy over the last few months — save a handful of shows as part of the Nissan Z Tour — Come Clean continues to sell well 60 weeks after debuting on the Billboard albums chart. Propelled by the popularity of the album's fourth single, "She Hates Me," the maiden release from Fred Durst's Flawless label has sold more than 2.6 million copies, averaging more than 20,000 copies a week lately.

Meanwhile, Puddle of Mudd, among the nominees in the Best Hard Rock category of the MTV Europe Music Awards (see ), will be subjected to the increasingly popular re-release treatment when Interscope bring backs Come Clean as a two-disc set with a DVD component on November 19.
