"Jackass" co-star Steve-O has made arrangements to turn himself in to Louisiana authorities to face charges stemming from a nightclub act in which he allegedly stapled his scrotum to his inner thigh.

The 28-year-old performance artist, whose real name is Stephen Glover, faces felony obscenity charges and principal to second-degree battery charges (see "Steve-O Suffers For His Art, And It May Land Him In Jail"). The club act, caught on tape by an audience member, took place July 11 at the Abyss in Houma on the Louisiana coast south of New Orleans.

"Ever since my days at clown college, I have always strived to push myself and my performances to their limits," Glover said in a statement released Thursday (August 8). "This is no different. I got called out because of my art. I understand the charges are very serious and plan to treat them that way."

Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, Assistant District Attorney Carlos Lazarus said Glover is scheduled to turn himself in Wednesday, at which point he'll face a bond hearing. A Los Angeles Municipal Court judge ruled last week that Glover must return to Louisiana by Friday, but Lazarus said that as long as Glover proves to the Los Angeles court that he has turned himself in by August 16, the court would deem the new date acceptable.

Glover's bond was initially set at $1.12 million, since he was considered a flight risk, Lazarus said, but it could be reduced. If it's not significantly reduced, attorney Tim Bender said his client would likely remain incarcerated. If convicted, Glover faces up to eight years in prison, three of which would be for the obscenity charge.

Meanwhile, the Abyss is in danger of losing its liquor license. The state's Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control issued citations on Saturday to the bar's owners and manager for allowing "lewd and immoral activity" there. A public hearing on the matter will be held October 9 in Baton Rouge, whereupon the Abyss will have an opportunity to fight the charge.
