Russell Crowe won't be the only big-screen star in 30 Odd Foot of Grunts much longer.
At the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, next week, Miramax will debut "Texas," a documentary that chronicles the rehearsing, recording and promoting of the Grunts' album, Bastard Life or Clarity.
Crowe has said the film, directed by his musical partner of 15 years, Dean Cochran, is a raw depiction of him and his band.
"Texas" follows the Grunts from their home base of Sydney, Australia, to eight days of rehearsal in London (where they worked around Crowe's "day job"), to recording sessions in Austin, Texas. The documentary also includes footage from three sold-out shows at Stubb's Bar-B-Q in Austin.
Crowe, who is nominated for a Best Actor Golden Globe for "A Beautiful Mind," produced the documentary with Brett Leonard ("The Lawnmower Man," "Virtuosity").
30 Odd Foot of Grunts, which includes Crowe on vocals and guitar, Cochran on guitar, Garth Adam on bass, Dave Kelly on drums, Stewart Kirwan on trumpet and Dave Wilkins on guitar, released Bastard Life or Clarity in the U.S. in October (see "Russell Crowe Tours U.S. With Grunts").
The Sundance Film Festival will also feature the premiere of "Britney Baby One More Time," a comedy about a transvestite Britney Spears look-alike (see "Britney Spears Is A Man, Baby! (In A New Movie)").
