Celine Dion's recording career will go on.
The Canadian singer, who left the music industry two years ago to start a family with her manager/husband, Rene Angelil, has recorded an album for release in March, her spokesperson said Thursday. Details on the release will be announced in January.
After giving birth in January (see "It's A Boy For Celine Dion"), Dion came out of the woodwork in May to announce that she would end her hiatus in 2003 with a three-year residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas (see "Celine Dion Plans Colossal Return From Hiatus"). Dion will perform a show designed by Cirque du Soleil's Franco Dragone inside a replica of the Coliseum in Rome.
Since then, Dion has taken part in several fund-raisers for victims in the September 11 terrorist attacks, including the "America: A Tribute to Heroes" telethon (see "Springsteen, U2 Help Raise $150 Million For Victims' Families") and a similar telethon in Canada (see "Celine Dion To Headline Five-Hour Canadian Benefit Show"). She had last performed at a "farewell concert" in Montreal on December 31, 1999.
