Jay-Z's The Blueprint will debut at #1 on next week's Billboard 200 albums chart, which will show a slight drop in across-the-board sales in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks.
The Blueprint, which includes the hit single "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)," sold just under 427,000 copies. Jay-Z's previous album, The Dynasty Roc La Familia 2000, sold more than 557,000 copies in its first week last November.
Jay-Z's album will have plenty of company from other debuts in next week's top 10, according to SoundScan figures released Wednesday (September 19).
Propelled by the radio hit "How You Remind Me," Silver Side Up, the second album from Canadian rockers Nickelback, will make a surprise debut at #2 with almost 178,000 copies sold.
Brooklyn rapper Fabolous' first album, Ghetto Fabolous, which includes the singles "Can't Deny It" and "Right Now & Later On," will debut at #4.
Bob Dylan will land at #5 with Love and Theft, his follow-up to 1997's Grammy-winning Time Out of Mind, and rockers P.O.D.'s Satellite will ride the success of the single "Alive" to the #6 slot.
With Mariah Carey unable to promote her new album, Glitter, due to what her publicist has called an emotional and physical breakdown, the album will pop onto the chart at #7.
The rest of the top 10 will include Alicia Keys' Songs in A Minor at #3, Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory at #8, Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 7 at #9 and Aaliyah's Aaliyah at #10.
System of a Down's Toxicity, which debuted at #1 last week, will drop to #11.
Other notable debuts include Christian artist Michael W. Smith's Worship at #20, Babyface's Face 2 Face at #25, Slayer's God Hates Us All at #28 and Ben Folds' solo debut, Rockin' the Suburbs, at #42.
