Staind have been added to the list of performers for the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.
The chart-topping rockers will perform "Fade," the second single from the recently certified triple platinum Break the Cycle (see ), according to their publicist.
Staind filmed a video for the song in Los Angeles last week with director Marcus Raboy (Santana, Sting). "Fade" is expected to hit radio and video outlets in mid-August.
The Fred Durst-directed video for Break the Cycle's first single, "It's Been Awhile," is nominated for Best Rock Video at the VMAs.
Having just wrapped up their summer headlining tour, Staind are preparing to head overseas for eight European festivals. They will return to the U.S. in the fall for the Family Values Tour (see ).
Meanwhile, Break the Cycle continues to sell exceptionally well. In the 11 weeks since it was released, the album has remained in the top four on the Billboard 200 albums chart. "It's Been Awhile" has been #1 on Billboard's Modern Rock singles chart for a record-tying 16 weeks.
Staind join U2, Alicia Keys and 'NSYNC as scheduled performers for the Video Music Awards on September 6 in New York (see ).
