With Mariah Carey hospitalized for treatment of a "physical and emotional breakdown," 20th Century Fox has moved the release date of her film debut, "Glitter," from August 31 to September 21.
A spokesperson for the movie company declined to give a reason for the delay. It remains unclear whether Carey will be able to participate in a press junket for the movie, he said.
Carey's publicist had no immediate comment on the change. Carey's new album, also called Glitter, is still due out August 21 (see "Mariah Carey Had 'Breakdown,' Her Publicist Says").
Carey has been hospitalized since July 25, and has canceled all public appearances.
"Glitter," set in early-'80s New York, stars Carey as Billie Frank, a singer who finds stardom after a troubled childhood. Da Brat and Eric Benet also appear in the film.
The Glitter album will serve as the movie's soundtrack, as well as a full-fledged Carey release.
