A new radio station on David Bowie's Web site will likely be short on scary monsters and super creeps. "Kick Out the Jammies," a collection of music for children, will debut on www.davidbowie.com later this summer.
Bowie said in a statement that the station the name of which is a take-off on the MC5's 1969 proto-punk classic "Kick Out the Jams" was inspired by tapes he made for his daughter Alexandria, born last August. The playlist will be a combination of tracks Bowie selects and suggestions from members of his online community, BowieNet.
While the two existing channels on "BowieRadio," one of Bowie hits and rarities and the other a collection of some of his favorite songs by others, are available only to BowieNet members, "Kick Out the Jammies" will be available to the general public.
