After spending most of the summer in Europe, Bob Dylan will return to the U.S. for a series of gigs in the West and Midwest this August — just in time for state fair season.

While the state fair circuit is typically the vestige of country artists and has-been rockers, Dylan has shown no aversion to playing amongst the hog barns and midways in the past. This stretch of his Never-Ending Tour, which he started in 1988 and hasn't let up on since (with the exception of a few months off here and there), will kick off with fair dates in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois and wrap up in Lancaster, California, on August 25.

The 60-year-old folk rock legend, who won an Oscar this year for "Things Have Changed," hasn't released an album since 1997's Grammy-winning Time Out of Mind. In addition to "Things Have Changed," from the "Wonder Boys" soundtrack, Dylan recently released "Return to Me," a pop standard popularized by Dean Martin, on The Sopranos: Peppers & Eggs (see "Dylan, Stones, Sinatra On 'Sopranos' Soundtrack").

Dylan's touring band features guitarist Charlie Sexton and multi-instrumentalist and musical director Larry Campbell, along with bassist Tony Garnier and drummer David Kemper.
