The indefinite postponement of the fifth annual Online Hip-Hop Awards show has turned permanent.
Originally scheduled to be held May 3 and broadcast on the Web, New York Cable's Metro Channel and Much Music USA, organizers delayed the program because of production problems. Rescheduled for this summer, the ceremony was to include a live performance by Wyclef Jean and the presentation of a ShiNE Anti-Violence Award to Missy Elliott for her efforts in domestic abuse education.
Felicia R. Palmer, the event's co-founder and executive producer, said the delays ultimately pushed the show too far back.
"It didn't make sense to continue," Palmer said. "We start planning [each show] in June of every year. We were starting to impose on the 2002 show." Palmer also said this year's show would've been scheduled close to other awards shows, such as The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards and the BET Awards, and organizers didn't want to overlap.
