With the economy in a tailspin, fiscal awareness seems to be the order of the day. That's not why Elton John is putting a fleet of his luxury cars on the Christie's auction block, though. He's selling the vehicles, which had been parked at his Woodside home in Windsor, England, because he's frequently out of town and unable to give them the love they deserve. "I'd rather they went to people who can get pleasure out of them every day," he said in a statement on the Christie's Web site. The prize of the batch is a 1993 Jaguar XJ220 worth over $200,000. John is also auctioning a 1973 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Limousine valued at more than $160,000 and a 1987 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante worth over $100,000. Lower-priced items include a 1956 Bentley S1 Continental Fastback (worth over $75,000); a 1987 Ferrari Testarossa and a 1997 Bentley Turbo R 400 Saloon (over $55,000 each); a 1975 Bentley Corniche Convertible and a 1965 Jaguar E Type Series 14.2 Roadster (over $40,000 each); and a 1987 Bentley Turbo R Saloon and a 1978 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe (over $30,000 each).

The "Exceptional Motor Cars from the Collection of Sir Elton John" auction takes place June 5 at 8 King Street in St James', London. Those with exquisite taste and overflowing wallets can view the items between June 2 and 4 at the Jack Barclay Showroom in Berkeley Square, London.
