On the first single from her debut album, Whoa, Nelly!, Canadian songstress Nelly Furtado soared like a bird, and her second single will leave her in the dark — figuratively speaking.

The song, "Turn off the Light" (RealAudio excerpt), is expected to hit airwaves in July and will be accompanied by a new video, which will be shot in Los Angeles on Friday.

Furtado is reaching out to her fans, inviting them to act as extras in the clip. On her Web site, she urges fans to e-mail a photo of themselves to nellyvideo@dreamworksrecords.com, but stresses that there would be "no compensation for appearing in the video other than personal gratification." Furtado will join Moby, the Roots, Incubus, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, New Order and others on select dates of the Area: One tour from July 11 to 28 (see "Songbird Nelly Furtado Takes Flight With Moby's Area: One").
