The head of the Voltron-like formation known as the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA, is hitting the road to promote the further adventures of his mask-wearing, shag-happy, kung-fu-fighting alter ego, Bobby Digital, this spring. RZA, who debuted the persona in 1998 with RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo, has lined up the outing to get fans ready for RZA as Bobby Digital - Digital Bullet, scheduled to drop on August 14.
The master soundshaper will stick mostly to smaller clubs that hold around 1,000 and 2,000 people, according to a label spokesperson. RZA will be performing selections from his catalog of Wu-Bangers, the spokesperson said, as well as previewing Digital Bullet tracks, such as the current single, "It Must Be Bobby," and its b-side, "Cousins." Wu-Tang affiliate acts Killarmy, Shyheim and Black Knights will open up for RZA.
