Tracing the multimedia path paved by the Beatles' Anthology, Paul McCartney's Wingspan project is following the recent TV documentary and double album with a "Wingspan" book.

The biography, according to a McCartney spokesperson, is scheduled for release this fall and features text by Sir Paul himself, accompanied by Linda McCartney's never-before-published backstage photos from the band's '70s heyday, a time when she abandoned her photography career to play keyboards and sing backing vocals for Wings.

In the previous decade, Linda McCartney, nee Linda Eastman, photographed everyone from the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and the Who to Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding and even the Beatles. Her photo book, "Linda McCartney's Sixties: Portrait of an Era," was published in 1992.

The 40-song Wingspan collection debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has sold more than 328,000 copies to date.

Like the multifaceted Wingspan project, the Beatles' Anthology venture embraced sights, sounds and the written word. The CD series Anthology was released in three installments: Anthology in 1995, and Anthology 2 and Anthology 3 in 1996. A three-part TV documentary was broadcast in November 1995, coinciding with the first volume. And finally, "The Beatles Anthology" book was released in October.
