Apparently Jill Scott's grueling nine months of touring have caught up with her the Philadelphia native was hospitalized in her hometown on Sunday after doctors discovered she had a lung infection that developed from a bad cold.
"With Jill, she's always so upbeat," Scott publicist Karen Taylor said of the singer's disposition while under physicians' care. "So far she's OK. She knows everything is going to be OK." Scott, who just finished her own set of dates, was supposed to start a 13-city tour headlined by Sting on May 5 in Washington, D.C., but was too ill. She also missed Sunday night's outing in Roanoke, Virginia, and will likely miss Tuesday's show in Greensboro, North Carolina. Jazz musician Dominic Miller is replacing Scott as the opening act until she is able to return.
Taylor said Scott, who is being treated with antibiotics, is optimistic that she'll be able to rejoin the tour by the end of the week, but she is awaiting word from her doctor, which is expected to come Monday evening (May 7).
