Macy Gray will join rappers Black Eyed Peas onstage at the 2001 Rock the Vote Patrick Lippert Awards in Los Angeles on February 20, according to organizers. As previously announced, Carlos Santana and Mary J. Blige will be honored for their public service and humanitarian efforts (see ). The Rev. Jesse Jackson will receive the Rock the Nation award, and MTV Group President and Chairman of Interactive Music Judy McGrath will receive Rock the Vote's Founder's Award (see ). Also performing are rockers Foo Fighters, and R&B poet/songstress Jill Scott. The show, at the House of Blues, is open to the public, and tickets are available by calling 310-559-9334. The awards, named after Rock the Vote co-founder Patrick Lippert -- who died of AIDS-related complications in 1993 -- have previously honored R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Sting, Bono, Queen Latifah and Sheryl Crow, among others.
