The upcoming movie "In the Time of the Butterflies" is sure to be easy on the eyes, with Latin heartthrob Marc Anthony playing a professor who falls in love with Salma Hayek.

Anthony shot the movie on location in Veracruz, Mexico, in November, according to his Columbia Records spokesperson. The film — which likely will hit theaters in summer, the spokesperson said — is based on Julia Alvarez's 1995 book of the same name, a fictionalized account of three sisters who revolt against Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo in 1960. Anthony's character inspires the sisters to become revolutionaries.

The New York-born singer is no stranger to acting, having appeared on Broadway in Paul Simon's ill-fated "The Capeman" musical in 1998, as well as in the 1999 Martin Scorsese film "Bringing Out the Dead." Anthony plans to release three albums this year — a salsa album, a Christmas collection and his second English-language disc. Long a top-selling Spanish-language artist, Anthony released his self-titled English-language debut, which featured the hit "I Need to Know," in 1999.
