After wowing North American audiences on a four-city tour in the fall, Mojave 3 have just announced plans for a month-long outing, starting February 8 in Athens, Georgia.
After moving from south to north for several East Coast dates, the band makes a Toronto stop before hitting some Midwest clubs to end its February stint; the tour wraps with five West Coast dates, the last one March 7 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.
The band will be playing in support of its third album, Excuses for Travellers, a college-rock fave that has sold almost 10,000 copies since its August release, according to SoundScan.
Guitarist/singer Neil Halstead, singer/bassist Rachel Goswell and drummer Ian McCutcheon formed Mojave 3 in 1996 from the remnants of the Reading, England, dream-pop outfit Slowdive after choosing to jettison that band's penchant for layered guitar effects in favor of a more stripped-down, acoustic sound.
