The James Gang, one of the great American power trios, are getting back in the saddle again.

The group's classic lineup — guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Dale Peters and drummer Jim Fox — will reunite for the first time in 30 years to perform at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on February 22.

"It's really gratifying to [see] that so many people are interested to hear us after all these years," said Fox, who founded the band in 1966. "Believe me, I'm even more excited than the audience [will] be."

Fox began the Gang in Cleveland with another lineup, before securing Walsh for their 1969 debut, Yer Album. But it was with 1970's The James Gang Rides Again that the band left an indelible impression: Songs such as "Funk #49" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Walk Away" (RealAudio excerpt) are '70s hard-rock tunes composed of an uncommon rhythmic facility. Pete Townshend rated the Gang so highly that he arranged for the band to tour Europe with the Who in 1971.

Walsh left in 1971 for a solo career, which was followed in 1976 by his stint with the Eagles. Virtuoso guitarist Tommy Bolin took Walsh's spot for two albums before joining Deep Purple. The James Gang called it a day in 1976.

Tickets are available now to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members for $12 and on Wednesday to nonmembers for $15. They may be purchased at Ticketmaster or by calling (216) 241-5555.
